What Nepal actually does to a momo once it comes out of the steamer. Jhol means broth — the dumplings arrive sitting in a warm, nutty sesame-tomato gravy you drink once they are gone, and it is the single most-ordered thing on any Kathmandu momo menu. Chili momo is fried then wok-tossed Indo-Chinese style; chatpate is tossed cold and tangy with peanut and lime; jhaneko is finished with sizzling mustard oil poured over at the last second.
We cook to order, so tell us your heat level and we will match it. Chulo is a family-run Nepali, Himalayan and Indian kitchen on Derry Street in Harrisburg — you order here, on our own site, and the restaurant is paid directly with no third-party commission taken out.

All of the jhol, with the vegetable dumplings. Light, refreshing, quietly addictive.

Fried chicken momos wok-tossed Indo-Chinese style with onion, capsicum, garlic and a glossy chili-soy glaze. Sweet, salty, smoky, hot.

Pan-fried pork momos in the chili sauce. Richer than the chicken — pork carries the heat differently.

Fried momos tossed chatpate-style with peanut, sev, sliced onion, cilantro, lemon and tamarind. Tangy, crunchy, snacky.

Momos wok-tossed with onion, garlic, tomato and cumin, then finished with jhane — sizzled mustard oil poured over at the last second. Aromatic rather than hot.
