Every momo on this page is pleated by hand at Chulo — steamed, kothey, fried, jhol, chili, chatpate, jhaneko and tandoori, in chicken, pork and vegetable. Order online for pickup or local delivery.
A momo is a Himalayan dumpling: a thin wheat wrapper folded by hand around a seasoned filling, then steamed or fried. It is the national comfort food of Nepal — the thing people eat standing up on the way home, and the thing families make together in batches of a hundred.
The pleating is not decoration. Each fold traps a pocket of steam, and the filling releases its own juice as it cooks, so a properly closed momo arrives with a spoonful of hot broth still inside it. That is why they are served whole, and why you should bite carefully on the first one.
Every momo we serve is pleated in house, on the day, and comes with our own tomato-sesame achar for dipping.
Jhol momo — order this one first. Jhol means broth: the steamed momos arrive sitting in a warm, nutty sesame-tomato gravy, and when the dumplings are gone you drink what is left. It is the dish most people come back for.
Steamed — chicken, pork or veg. The original. Soft wrapper, clean flavour, nothing hiding.
Kothey — half-steamed, then pan-seared so the base goes deep gold and crackly while the top stays soft. If you cannot choose between steamed and fried, this is the answer.
Chili momo — fried, then wok-tossed Indo-Chinese style with onion, capsicum and chilli. This is the hot one, and it eats more like a main than a starter.
Jhaneko — tossed with onion, garlic and cumin, then finished with jhane: sizzling mustard oil poured over at the last second. Less heat than chili momo, far more aroma. The one regulars order once they know it is there.

Ten hand-pleated dumplings of ground chicken thigh with ginger, garlic and scallion, steamed until the wrappers turn silky. Served with our tomato-sesame achar.

Pork filling seasoned with onion, ginger, garlic and the house spice blend, pleated by hand and steamed soft. The one Nepal orders most.

Finely chopped cabbage, carrot, onion, scallion and fresh ginger, lightly sautéed before pleating. Light, fresh, and the surprise of the menu.

Half-steamed then pan-seared, so the bottoms go deep gold and crackly while the tops stay soft. Chicken filling.

The kothey treatment on our pork momo — crisp on the bottom, tender on top, juicy through the middle.

Whole-fried until every side of the wrapper crackles, the ginger-and-garlic chicken filling sealed inside. Extra chili sauce on the side.

Golden deep-fried vegetable momos, crispy outside and tender inside, with tomato-sesame achar.

The signature. Steamed chicken momos submerged in a warm, nutty jhol of fire-roasted tomato, ground soybean, ginger and timur peppercorn. Drink what is left in the bowl.

Pork momos in the same sesame-tomato jhol — savoury and a touch sweeter than the chicken.

All of the jhol, with the vegetable dumplings. Light, refreshing, quietly addictive.

Fried chicken momos wok-tossed Indo-Chinese style with onion, capsicum, garlic and a glossy chili-soy glaze. Sweet, salty, smoky, hot.

Pan-fried pork momos in the chili sauce. Richer than the chicken — pork carries the heat differently.

Fried momos tossed chatpate-style with peanut, sev, sliced onion, cilantro, lemon and tamarind. Tangy, crunchy, snacky.

Momos wok-tossed with onion, garlic, tomato and cumin, then finished with jhane — sizzled mustard oil poured over at the last second. Aromatic rather than hot.

Momo is the doorway into the rest of the menu. After that, try the Nepali and Newari dishes or the Indian side of the kitchen.
